Major Charles A. Winn
Captain T. J. Hoskinson, being unable to write to you, has requested me to do so for him. He arrived here on the 6
th ill and has been so, since his return; he is quite prostrated not able to sit up but a little while at a time, has been and is still under the care of the physician. There has been very little improvement since. He came home and from present appearances unless there is a very sudden recovery. He cannot possibly join his regiment at the appointed time. He desires me to say to you that he is very anxious to hear from you, whether you intend to return to the regiment soon. What your prospects are, etc.. He wishes very much that you would write to him soon. Though he doubts that he will be able to write to you himself. But will get someone to write for him.
Very Respectfully,
Mrs. J. W. Austin
