Dear Father,
I take this opportunity to write you a few lines to let you know that I am well and hope these few lines will find you the same. I like soldiering very well, we have to work very hard. We have been throwing up intrenchments now we are digging a road, some hear to Chain Bridge. It is about three miles, it is about four rods wide. General McClellan reviewed us yesterday.
I wish you would send me papers once in a while. Charles Morse has been to see me once. I wish when you write you would send me some money. We shall not get paid in two months. I have not got any money.
Give my love to all of the folks. I don’t know of anything more to write.
Good Bye,
Your son Daniel Corbin
