Description

The very first commission for George W. Rockwood appointing him a captain in the 9th Massachusetts Infantry. He later served in the 15th Massachusetts Infantry, where he was captured at Ball's Bluff. Afterwards he served with the 4th Massachusetts Heavy Artillery.
