I have respectfully to request that you will grant a Leave of absence to Lieutenant J. E. Callaghan of your Regiment, in order that he may take command of a company in one of my regiments.

It is my intention with your sanction to apply for an order detaching the Lieutenant that he may receive promotion in my command.
