This certifies that John D. Priest of Boston has been a Corporal in Company G, 44th Regiment Massachusetts Volunteer Militia since its formation. He has been with his company in the several fights and skirmishes in which it has been engaged and has always behaved with courage and coolness.

In camp he has performed his duties in a manner to gain the appreciation of his officers and to merit promotion should he again enter the service.
