Governor John Letcher sent this telegram to William Harman and Kenton Harper.

Received at Staunton, April 17, 1861 at 2 o’clock.

By telegraph from Richmond

To: General William H. Harman

Genl Harman is ordered into service with his brigade.

Genl K. Harper will report himself at Winchester, there to take command of the troops on their way to Harpers Ferry.
